Rising after Tragedy
I woke up a month after it was reported on Jamaican TV that I was dead. I was crushed by a huge bus on a Saturday when I was driving through Fern Gully close to Ocho Rios in Jamaica, as I was on my way home. I was told that there was a sink in my forehead, my pelvic bone was broken, my legs were crushed and I could see that my hands were wounded and my left leg was missing and my right foot was always hurting because the ankle was crushed and the skin was torn off.
At first I was just shocked to see many beds with people lying in them and I didn’t know where I was, what had happened to me or who I was. My memory returned slowly, beginning with the things I did when I was a child until I remembered that I was a Christian and got a small Bible from a friend.
The nurses told me how much they tried to keep me alive because they knew that I had a 9-year-old son and he really needed to have his mother around.
Faith makes the impossible possible
There were people dying on the ward every day and I didn’t know if I would make it but I knew there were a lot of Christians praying for me.
My belief in God and prayer caused me to be courageous and I wanted to be able to be with my son.
Having the little Bible gave me a good feeling and I enjoyed reading the Psalms until I found Psalm: 30 and I would read it very often, I thought it had all the words I wanted to say at the time. I was glad to be alive because so many persons were dying and I believed I could find a way to walk again if I could just hang on to life.
I was unable to leave my bed but I kept on reading Psalms: 30 and singing, until I was sent to the USA for further treatment and started walking again.
Beauty for Ashes
When I got back to Jamaica by a business was gone and I couldn’t live in my house because I could not work as I did before. However, I said with God all things are possible and I decided to write about the accident as I wanted to encourage persons who were going through tough times. I eventually told the publishers of a Christian magazine about the story and they came to the house where I stayed for it, they even took a photo I had and placed it on the cover of the magazine when the story was published.
This was very encouraging for me and I took a copy of the magazine to the business development office when I wanted to see how I could start a new business. They told me that they were in need of children’s books for their shops and I started writing for children. My business has been growing and I have written many more books as I constantly try to help the world, my country, and myself. Since I saw how God answered prayers and brought me out of an impossible situation I have started believing that more problems can be fixed as well, so the world can be a better place. I have been writing books about motivation, love, environmental protection, and other topics. I also write songs, poems, articles, and slogans for the persons I do online advertisement for on https://www.fiverr.com/denisesalmon and https://funwritings.com.There is a project on the website with books for the children that will help them to become more aware of the problems we face with environmental pollution.

Divorce is not a death sentence
I felt like my life and my family had been torn apart, like we had been hit by a truck and our lives had spiraled out of control. After the divorce I really thought I would be able to move on quickly, but I had underestimated the depth of the emotional wound. I started going to the park, reading my Bible, fasting, praying, meditating, and writing in my journal regularly. As I progressed on the journey of healing I met a church sister who had been through her own journey of healing. We exchanged stories and she told me about a book that had helped her tremendously and offered to lend me her copy. This book really helped me to make some much needed adjustments, in how I managed my relationships.
